CCS to Implement Clear Bag Procedures at Athletic Events
Cumberland County Schools has implemented district wide clear bag procedures for athletic events. These procedures will apply to athletic events held at our school and at other schools across the district. Each person may bring one clear bag no larger than 12 by 15 by 3 inches. Small clutches, one-gallon Ziploc bags, diaper bags and medical bags will also be allowed. You may also bring items like coats, blankets and strollers, as long as any storage compartments are left open and empty. This update is designed to help keep our events safe and make entry faster and easier for everyone.
For additional information, visit the CCS website. If you have questions, please contact the CCS Office of Student Activities at 910-678-2445.
Athletic Eligibility:
To be eligible to participate in athletics, students must have FinalForms completed and a current and valid sports physical on file that covers the entire sport season. Students must also have verified residency and attendance within the school administrative unit, have a minimum 2.0 GPA /70% average for the semester prior to the start of the specific athletic season, and have passed at least 70% of their coursework for the semester prior to the start of the specific athletic season. Students must have at least 85% attendance during the previous semester, with more than 15% unexcused absences resulting in ineligibility. To maintain playing eligibility throughout the season, students must continue to maintain the required 70% passing rate in their classes at all times during the athletic season.
